chip talk on S4 board
See the URL included. Apparently those who know over there think it may be for real.
Just a heads up. I don't want to spread the argument, just warn those who may be thinking about chipping to take a look.

https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m/s4/60874.phtml</a

The same applies to the A6 2.7T to an extent. They kludged the UK version down to 230hp to keep it from being too close to the 4.2 performance wise. If we chip them up to 360hp (I've seen claims that a chip/filter will do this - true or false?) and put proper sport suspension on them, what's it going to do to 4.2 sales?
I have it on good authority (somebody in the Audi chain) that Audi UK give great fat discounts on low end A8's to sell them in preference to top end A6's because they would rather have A8's out there on the roads. Don't you think the same marketing folks would love to find some way to stop us from improving the performance of our cars when they could sell us a faster one themselves?
Gosh! I'm cynical today ;-)
In Europe, Saab is going to release factory authorized chips for their 2.0 and 2.3 (Viggen) turbo engines to add power.
Perhaps Audi should sell factory authorized chips.
The reason the A8 got dragged in is because I have a big chip on my shoulder right now about Audi's marketing and model positioning. The A8 thing was just another example of it.
