Default 2.7T at port for a month saga

After 4 weeks of both myself and the dealer being told that my car should arrive from port (SD) "in a few days", we've now learned that the car was shipped without some "trim pieces" and that they are waiting for those to arrive so they can install them before releasing the car.

Has anyone heard anything similar happening before? Should I be concerned about this? I tend to believe the dealer, as I know he was anxious to book this sale before the end of the month.

I'm going nuts waiting...I've been planning tentative weekend jaunts for a month now, and still no car!

Default Is it really in 1 piece ?

Hate to spin nasty stories, but the Nissan boat unloading area is close by in Seattle and there is a body shop there to fix up the ones that get smashed on the boat. There is quite often a line of cars and SUV's waiting to be fixed, mostly with smashed in grills and lights, but sometimes a lot worse.

Hopefully your 2.7 hasn't suffered a similar fate ?

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm planning to inspect it extremely carefully.

If the car was damaged in shipment, is there any law that says they must report the damage?

Audi recently changed their port of entry from the Texas coast to San Diego. I understand that the dealers have been frustrated with delivery delays and some issues with preparing the cars for delivery at the port. For instance, my car was missing two fuses which are installed at the port. Although you are concerned I wouldn't worry. You will ultimately be able to inspect the car before you accept delivery. Hang in there.

Default It's a pain - we had one guy wait over a month extra while his S4 sat in port

Just wait. We realy, really do want you to have your car. We don't get paid until you take delivery.

Default It must be hard on the cars to be sitting out on port.

Default The official word was that the Feds were holding it in case they

needed one for emmissions testing. Not sure. Car came with 26 miles on the clock ( not unusual ).
