General Audi Question

I know that Volkswagen and Audi are related, through VAG, but where does Porsche fit in? Is there any business relationship between Audi/Volkswagen and Porsche?

F. Piech is a Porsche family member

and I think owns some part of that company as well as Audi.<p>00 Imola / silver / 6-sp

Volkswagen owns Audi, has since 1971, I believe. Porsche is independent (so far) but collaborates with other manufacturers from time to time. They have a research facility and do contract work for many people as well. In the US, Porsche and Audi had a marketing agreement in the late 70's and early 80's, however that is no longer. Also, sometimes they help each other with projects. For example, the Porsche 924 was supposed to be a VW, however VW nixed it, Porsche took it over, but it was built by Audi (in the beginning at least). Its engine is a VW/Audi derivative. The Audi RS2 (not a US model) was built by Audi, then modified (larger brakes, modified engine, etc). at the Porsche facility.

Also, as I understand it, after WWll the Russians stripped what was left of the Audi plants and moved them to Czechoslovakia. (I'm guessing on this spelling).
Audi had no resources with which to rebuild, and turned to VW, the beginning of that relationship. I think most of this occuried around 1948

I just got my shifter (not actually installed till this weekend) and it is the new adjustable one. There are two holes you can switch between to change from a 20% to 40% throw reduction. I believe that all new UUC short-shift kits come this way.<p>00 Imola / silver / 6-sp
