New A6 4.2 High $20K-Low$30K range.

Yes, that's the price my brother in-law guessed my 4.2 cost! I offered to let him drive and when he got out he said: "Nice car, what it cost? High $20's Low $30's?" When I told he $53K and change, he was dead silent and I really don't think he believed me. Anyway, I think is is pretty neat that a car this awsome is so unassuming and believed to be inexpensive. Try that with a BMW 540i or Mecerdes E430. Nothing like stealth to make ones day.

I have observed similar reactions to the 2.7T. However, I also test drove just about every other respectable challenger in the $30 to $50k category. I did not test Volvo and Saab, as I do not view FWD's to be serious challengers in this category. In my opinion, nothing compared value wise to the A6, save for the C5 Corvette, but that did so for very different reasons.

Value indeed!! Shopping BMW's for/with a friend, and...

for a mildly equipped 323 coupe w/5 speed they wanted $570/month! We promptly went to Acura. CL Type S is approx. $525/month. Both are no money down 15k mi/yr 36 month tax included leases. With him not being an enthusiast I am steering him towards the Acura, although he still wants to test drive A4's, maybe A6's (he's coming out of an Outback wagon, hence my Acura lobbying).
Loving my Audi more every day. No offense, but your brother-in-law IS clueless about cars.

Pros and cons

Remember that driving a Q-ship means resale will be low as well. We need to raise a people's awareness of how good these cars are. Lease residuals and selling prices ( used ) will go up if we take the time to build value in the cars.

I have never had anyone object to the price of an Audi when I've explained all the features and engineering their dollars can buy. It may not be in their price range, but they now have some value attached to the Audi name.

Based on Audi's sales numbers for this year, I'd say awareness has been raised. Now that there are more on the road, awareness will continue to increase by exposure, generating more interest, and therefore more sales. What Audi's competitors would probably call a "vicious cycle."

The flip-side is that I'll probably see a car just like mine driving down the road - right now I'm enjoying the exclusivity a little.

Yeah, I'm with Pablo on this one, it has nothing to do with your car and everything to do ...

with your brother. If someone hasn't looked at cars lately, they can't imagine what prices are now like. If I told my mom that my A6 was in the $40s, she would freak and ask why I didn't buy a Rolls instead since they're the same price.
