Radr Through the Windshield
Ooops:
Forgot in the last posting to ask about my Warm Weather Package Windshield.
I was told by the Previous Owner that radar is filtered slightly by the Warm Weather Package's insulating glass / tinted windshield. Does anyone have any expereince with this? Is the radar reception degraded, or is there still ample penetrtion through the glass for an ample warning, if the detector is mounted adjacent to the rear-view mirror?.........Thanks. Andras

I believe there is some degradation. Comments about detector installation.
Any coatings or tints tend to reduce radar wave reception. Call Valentine Reserach, makers of the best detector IMHO, at (800) 331-3030 and ask them. Second, I had my V1 installed in my 4.2 by my dealer for free. The wire was olaced inside the A pillar completely out of sight and then run through the headliner. This is a normal Audi installation for customers so there is no reason why your dealer, service manager or tech couldn't tell you how it's done.

This is a good April question
This was a problem with the first A8s because they had funky solar windshields (Car and Driver uncovered this), but I think a running change was made to all Audi windshields since.

I did mean to say in the original post that this is an Audi A6, not an A8.
I have read Valentine's description, in which he also states that the A8 has "bad" windshield for radar.
Does anyone have their radar pointing through the windshield (how else cold it be, right?), and do you still receive a signal? Thanks..........Andras
