Default Minor Dent - help

Got back to my 2.7T and found a small 2" depression on the
drivers side wheel arch. Not having ever had to deal with this
annoyance before, is this an easy fix? Should I go back to
my dealer, or a body-shop on the NYC area.

Default A Good detailer will get the dent out, but paint/clearcoat damage is a different story.

Does the damage go down thru the paint? Can you slide your finger nail down thru the paint to the panel? If so, the panel should be re-painted and I would do that at the dealer. Clearcoat damage can be repaired with the use of Zaino products and/or touch paint. I learned alot about Zaino in this forum. A dark car allows more liberal use of touch paint, IMO. Hope this helps.

I had a couple door dings and small hood dents fixed by The Dent Wizard on Wednesday--did a great job. As long as the paint isn't damaged, I'd go this route.

Default Dent Wizard - go through your dealer

I had good experience having my dealer fix several "dings" on my door and one bordering the front driver's side wheel. The dealer contracted the work to "Dent Wizard" - and they did a very good job restoring the body contour. You would have to look very carefully now to find the spot. Cost was $100 the first time for a door panel ding and the wheel well and $65 the second time for a single door ding.

The Dent Wizard technique works best on flat areas - the compound curvature around the wheels is not a great place to work. I recommend asking your dealer.

I posted about a month back a "before" and "after" picture of one of the door dings. The results on the doors - at least - are excellent.

Default Good advice srosie, except

unless the dealer has their own body shop (which is rare, depending on the part of the country)they just job it out to an independant shop and mark it up considerably. When I had some damage to take care of on my BMW, I wound up bypassing the dealership and went "direct" - dealership wanted $1500 for a job I wound up paying $1000 for (same shop). Of course you need to find a good shop, but going through the dealer if they're not doing the work themselves can be be unnecessarily expensive.

Default I knew this, isn't it shameful.

I once berated a Toyota dealer for this so bad about painting a rear quarter they gave me the "direct" price plus a free oil change. It helped I thought they did a lousy match on the color. And I was hot to begin with because dopey me backed into a dumpster.
