Default Possible Warranty Issues with H&R coilovers???

Does anybody know of any warranty issues that I should be cautious of with installing non-Audi suspension parts on my 2.7T? I've searched the archives but found nothing. I'm only going to be lowering the car about 35mm- just about the same as the Audi installed Eibach's.

Thanks guys... (and girls!!!)

Default These "gray area" warranty questions.....

seem to depend a lot on your dealers attitude toward them. They are the ones that go up against Audi for reimbursement of warranty labor and parts.

April may have a better answer.

I have no intention of having Audi pay for damages, if any, that are caused by this. I just don't want them to give me a hard time about unrelated repairs that might be incurred.

I think that is where the subjectiveness (gray area) of your dealer's service dept. comes into play.

Default Really depends on the dealer

Depends if they will take the time to work around any potential mods. Some just don't want the hassle and will turn folks away. Others don't mind so long as it does not interfere too much with servicing the car.

Our dealership doesn't really care what you do with your car, so long as we can service it in a reasonable amount of time and don't have any problems with the mods.

This is one of the resons I suggest AMS when people want to upgrade their car - they are local, have a warranty, and will come running if we have a problem.

Thanks April... I'm out here in Boston. I'll see if BPG has any sort of warranty.

Default By law it is up to Audi to prove that your mods resulted in the damage

If they cannot do that then they must uphold the warrantee. However, in practice, things are generally a bit different. If you lower your car and the car bottoms out and destroys the muffler, Audi may have a ligitimate argument. They can't void the warantee on the rest of the car, (again...depending on interpretation) but they can say that the damage would not have occurred if stock suspension was used.

Default Dealers want Audi's money

Dealers are as money hungry as any business. Not that I know anything about how dealers operate. But it seems to me that they make pretty good money doing warranty work.

The potential to rack up a large repair bill that won't be questioned by the car's owner, and will be almost automatically reimbursed by the auto manufacturer, should be a big incentive for a dealer to NOT try to deny a warranty covered repair based on a modification. I'd love to hear what the dealers really think.
