Default OK. Back to business. Opinions please...

I'm thinking about these Fikse Mag wheels for my 2.7T. I've ordered (Melange/Melange). I've looked at a lot of wheels in the last month or so and like a classic 5 spoke design. Oettinger also has some really nice 5 spokes. I'm really leaning towards forged wheels since the roads in CO. are pretty poor, even though they are more $$ than other alloys. Some on the Wheel & Tire forum have gone with Fikse, but I've not seen anyone post pics of the Mag, or hear anyone on this forum talk about them.

Whatya all think?

Thanks.

P.S.-Nice, constructive comments only, please ;-)

Gary,

What is the size and prices for the two options?

The Fiske wheel seems to have the spokes set in quite a bit from the outer edge of the rim. Does this mean it would have to have extra spacers to allow brake caliper clearance, or would the version that fits the Audi actually have the spokes closer to the outer rim?

If your car was black, I would definitely like the finish on the Fiske better. With Melange, I am not certain. I saw one Melange 2.7T at the NE Audi Bash with A8 17" wheels (with spacers) and it looked REALLY good.

2.7Tango,

I'm looking at 17x8's. Fikse's running a special on 17's right now (about $500/wheel). As I've not talked to them yet, I don't know if they'd need spacers to fit. Most of their fitments are custom. If they need spacers, I'd prolly opt for something else. So, to answer your ?, at this point I'm not sure.

Since I havn't called yet I'm not exactly sure. They're pricing list is a bit screwy. Their 17x8's range between $800-$850/wheel, but as I mentioned below to 2.7Tango, they're running a special on 17's for around $500/wheel right now according to my neighbor who's got Fikse F-10's on his M3. I don't know how long the special pricing is on for, and may try to take advantage of it if this is what I choose, sooner than I normally would.

The one thing I know about the Oettingers is they are a direct bolt on. No hubcentric spacers. I watched them get mounted on a silver 4.2. I thought they looked fabulous on the car. The picture you posted from their web-site does not really do them justice. The rim is machine polished and clearcoated unlike in the picture. And the spokes shaping seems to match the A6's body design, almost as if they are a perfect "match". There was more caliper clearance with the Oettingers than with my factory 17" "pie plates". They are made by Ronal for Oettinger and are TUV certified.

I have never seen the Fiskes however and dont know about spacing.
