Recommended 2.7T Options
Hi All,
I am going to purchase a 2.7T in the next two weeks, and I would like some input about option packages. I have already decided to get the convenience & sport packages, I'm just not sure about the others.
Any opinions about options you didn't get and now wish you had, or vice versa?

They have changed the options around for '01, but here's my .02 worth. Sound: The A4 Bose system provides a lot more output than the A6 system. My theory is that the larger interior cubic feet require more that the Bose system can fill. With 2 each 4" speakers in that cave of a trunk, and all kinds of intricate baffeling- they try- but don't quite do it. I think the choice is between Bose and aftermarket- and the standard system simply wouldn't cut it.This is not to say that the Bose is bad- it's just that it doesn't reach my expectations, having had the A4. CD changer: by all means get it. Leather: get it. I like to drive the car by myself, so I recommend the 6 speed version. PSK and sport seats: by all means. I didn't get cold weather because it is not needed in Texas. And I said "no" to Xenon because I don't do much night driving. I do strongly recommend an aftermarket window tint installation, particularly in the sunbelt. Get the metalized version. I like 3M. If you park outside a lot get something to cover the windshield- I like it to be OUTSIDE, since it cuts heat and UV. My wife makes mine to fit like custom. We use a vinyl with a soft backing. A4 Bose vs A6 Bose
I have to say the A6 Bose is far better, having compared them.
It sounds better to me. It has far more power than the A4 version (250 Watts, most in the Audi lineup). It has a subwoofer. It also has no speakers in the trunk other than the subwoofer. The rear speakers are in the doors. And I can't imagine anyone can say the A6 Bose subwoofer sound "gets lost". If anything, it is too loud.

Parking assistance is way underrated and...
rear side bags are a worthy safety choice. I have the ESP and, frankly I can't remmeber the light ever going on. Maybe once in a light rain. And I'll drive fairly hard on weekends. So I guess if my tit was in a ringer it would be useful.

I like the Bose too...
I thought the Harmon Kardon system in my BMW was great, but this one is better perhaps because of the larger interior. I definitely recommend it, and BTW, it sounds better than my my boss's A4.
I have leather, PSK, Covenience, Cold, Bose and Xenon. Happy with them all, especially psk
