Default Audi of America: PLS READ (re: Future Audi A6 lineup)

I know the AllRoad is coming..and that is great...but I want to make sure you are reminded one more time that there are many potential buyers of a configuration that is NOT available in the US right now...what is it..you ask? The A6 Avant 2.7T. Many people want the extra room of the A6 Avant but they just can't fathom the power of the 2.8 30V in that heavy of a car...especially in quattro trim.

So, please consider this configuration for the US market.

If anyone agrees with me...please pipe in and let AoA know your feelings.

Ok...Ive left the podium now...<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3821"><br><br>

Default Re: I would really want one of those too......

I really like the body of the A6 Avant... Although, ours is just adequate in power, and I use the term "adequate" loosely, I would really welcome the idea of an A6 2.7 Turbo Avant, with a nice sports package with the 17-wheels like the one on the A6 4.2.. Should AoA decide to come out with a nice A6 Avant 2.7 turbo, I'd be real jealous since we already bought the 2.8 Avant.. It would be hard for me to justify trading in a 4.5k mile car, and lose $5k or more on depreciation for more power should AoA decide to introduce it... I drive too fast as it is,,, a turbo engine is an indulgence not a neccesity..

The BMW 528i wagon, and the upcoming 530i wagon for 2001, simply looks too ugly, and cramped for me to seriously consider getting one although, I like the way BMW's drive better, and the Mercedes wagon seems too expensive and again too ugly for me to consider also..

I'd buy one tomorrow if it was available, Allroad doesn't work for me.

Default I am sure that if the 2.7T Avant had been available at the time we purchased our 4.2.....

that we would be driving one of those instead. We came out of 2 successive Volvo wagons and we (mostly my wife) do miss the more utilitarian nature of a wagon. We only have one child, but even so they are very versatile for family purposes.

I wonder how much higher the margins will be for the allroad? Our Volvo dealer admitted to making more money generally on the Cross Countrys and said Volvo does also. I dont think the margins will be as high as on most SUVs, but there is enough there to have justified the development of the car in the first place. Any body have any thoughts on that?

AoA, send us the 2.7T Avant! :-)

I should have mentioned that we are not interested in the allroad, but prefer SPORT wagons.

Default Allroad getting better

Later pictures show far less cladding on the sides. If they make the bumpers and flares body color in the US, I could possibly live with it.

I'd also probably have the 2.7T Avant though. told my dealer so when I bought my 2.7T sedan.

I'm already on the list for an Allroad but would give the 2.7T Avant a serious look-see if it were available. It's not likely that AoA would release both at the same time, so I'll just have to see how the Allroad looks/drives...

Default I'd taken one rather then the allroad, of course I'd prefer an S6 !

Unforetunatley, I'm pretty convinced that you won't see it until the allroad is out and selling. Also, I'm sure they'll only bring in the tip. That is one thing the allroad has going for it, a manual gearbox option !

Default Re: Allroad getting better

I know I would rather have a 2.7T or even a 4.2 or S6 AvantQ rather than an allroad. I think for a lot of us, it is an issue of a wagon who's suspension is designed for road performance rather than off-road performance. It is not a matter of body cladding for me.

I think "sport wagons" are obviously much more fun to drive than quasi four wheelers like the allroad will be. With proper tires, a 2.7T (4.2 or S6) AvantQ can go just as many places in the snow as the allroad or Volvo Cross Country.

I also would not try to fool myself about the allroads off-road abilities. Height adjustable suspension or not, I personally would never drive one down a dirt road. They just are not really designed for that. I also could not bring myself to drive $45,000 to $50,000 down the dirt roads I do when I am fly fishing.

This of course is a personal opinion and product desire. My opinions of any type of "SUV" are quite contrary to the majority of North Americans in general. Just look at how successful the SUV market (and in particular, the growing 'luxury SUV market') is in North America and you see why Audi has jumped in with both feet :-)

Default Yes.....with the manual six speed......

I believe the All Road will be available with a clutch. Hopefully, Audi will follow with a 2.7 Avant with a clutch also.
