The 2.7 engine provides 380 bhp in the RS4. What is so bad about chipping?

The best I can determine the major changes to the RS4 engine involve different cylinder heads, freer exhaust, and larger turbos and intercoolers. I can find no specs on the boost pressure being run. If the basic 2.7 engine is strong enough for all this, why does Audi think- if they do- that a 1 bar or a 1.3 bar chip will
harm a motor that is operated sensibly? Is the key word sensibly? Or does Audi want to leave the field for engine hp increase open only to themselves? Whatcha think?

Default I think it's a control issue.

Audi, or any OEM, has no control over the quality and installation of these and other types of products and therefore does not want to be $$responsible for any negative effects. SEMA is working hard on changing this and will be successful at some point. I think in the meantime, however, that Audi is practicing their own version of "don't ask, don't tell".

I have to imagine that the RS4 engine probably also receives upgraded internals like bearing races, valve guides and springs, ceramic piston coatings perhaps, crank bushings, cylinder liners etc.. I would think that the extra compression and boost would necessitate such internal upgrades for durability.

Does any body know for sure, or are the only changes those that Jack Orr lists?
