Stevens Creek Service Dept is Awful! - Any NorCal Suggestions? (more)
Anyway, I took it into Anderson Behel to have them fix it and here's what happened:
Door looks great....but
There's paint overspray on the seat, dashboard and carpet.
They left a screw or something loose inside the door panel, so now when you accelerate or come to a stop, you can hear the thing sliding around inside the door. (Also hear it when you close the door)
Also, I asked them to check the driver's door for a squeak.
They fixed it....but
Now I've got grease on two pairs of pants from where the excessive black grease is dripping down the inside of the door jamb all the way along the door sill.
I asked them to eliminate the rattle that is almost constant, coming from the steering column.
They said they couldn't hear it...but
Guess what I listened to all the way home from the dealer.
I should probably save this for another post, but I was also flabbergasted when I learned that my loaner car was a VW Jetta! Don't the Lexus dealers give you a Lexus ES300. Don't the Volvo dealers give you an S70? And these aren't even new Jettas. They're old 199X Jetta III's. You've got to be kidding.
So here's my question. Is there another Audi dealer in the bay area who provides good service? I need your help. I can't bring myself to go back to the same service shop.
You are getting a classic service case - totally pathetic, it gives Audi a bad name. Call Audi customer service and if you don't have to wait on hold for 5 hours, you can file a complaint about the dealership. Audi says they bring all complaints up to dealers, but I don't suppose any of those dealers would be here, now would they?
As for the paint overspray, how in the hell did they get pain inside the car? I mean overspray ok, but INSIDE the car, are they kidding?? Make them repair or replace the dash, seat, and carpet that they screwed up.
As for that screw loose, 'big deal' since some dealers can't find a busted axle if they are looking for it. Sheesh.
As for loaners, it really depends on the dealer. One person in my company dropped off her brand new $38,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee for service and got a 1980-something Plymouth Reliant. One complaint later they upgraded to an early-90's Dodge Shadow. Maybe next time it will be a Stratus or something. On another example, I know a guy who has a Range Rover. The nearest Rover dealer in NY is Rochester, which is a 3+ hour drive from here. The dealer picks up the car and drops off a Rover loaner, drives it back to Rochester, services it, and then drives it back and picks up the loaner.
Then there is the dealer I was dealing with, who didn't give ANY loaner cars to anybody, ever. I thought it was a law to give a MB S500 customer a loaner, no? Reminds me of a story… Scottie Pippen, Portland Trailblazers NBA star, bought an S500 recently. First service, he drops it off and gets a Honda accord as a loaner. The funniest part was he called them up, complaining, and said 'What kind of deal is this, I give you a $100,000 Mercedes and you give me a $20,000 piece of sh*t Honda, what kind of deal is this?' So he eventually got some Mercedes loaner. But a funny story that someone with that much fame and fortune as he has even has his problems with car dealers. Of course a call from Scottie Pippen gets someone's *** over to solve the problem right quick, as happened in that case.
As for me, there is another dealer that I plan to use from now on, about an hour's drive from here, that has a rental center for loaners - they will give you a similar car to what you drop off, for $25/day. Like if an Audi A6 is dropped off, you get an A6, unless they are all rented out, then the next best thing, like an A4. Reasonable to me since I have to drive 50+ miles to their dealership.
Good luck in finding another dealer, because it can make or break your experience with Audi, that is for sure.
they put in 15W40 CITGO and the worse thing
is the oil level is way above the MAX indicator.
I have to change it myself with 5W40 synpower.
I also tried Carlsen in PA. Their service is
okay, but not good enough compare to my honda
dealer (Hopkins in Sunnyvale)

Carlsen is a VW/Porsche/Audi dealer, so you might get a VW loaner also.
Rector carries Cadillac/Porsche/Audi. I bought mine at Rector but haven't gone for service yet. But the dealer took the time to show me the service department when I took delivery. They also have a body shop in house which is quite rare for dealerships nowadays.
FYI, if you car is gonna be done THAT day...Anderson-Behel will not even pay for the Geo Metro. Of course, under special circumstances, ANYTHING can happen....you know...Elephants flying and stuff.
Just another data point for you.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3821"><br><br>

I complained about the waits, and Andersen-Behel (Stevens Creek) said they were considering opening a service annex somewhere else to handle service, but no new dealerships.
I agree the lack of competition down here in the valley has driven service to a new low.
I got FAR better service at my Saturn dealer in Sunnyvale. This despite near constant turnover of service managers there.
I guess I'll order up some 5W-40 to give to the dealer in two weeks to put in my car. No 15W-40 for me, thank you!

By the way my BMW dealer wasn't any better. They put such a big dent in the front fender of my 740il that it had to be replaced. The loaners were a little better, well used 318i.
