Need Advice for a YOUNG A6 2.7T Buyer
Come on people don’t let me down, let me know there is a NO-PRESSURE Audi dealer with a great attitude!!!
Just kidding. If you are in So.Cal. or anywhere near I would suggest you talk to April in Commonwealth Audi. About buying a 2001 2.7T at invoice, now, I don't think it would be possible. Maybe later in the year, maybe a car that's already at the dealer, maybe if the market continues to go to the dogs. Right now these cars sell well and dealers don't seem to have any problem charging $2000 over invoice.
I payed $2200 over for a 2000 2.7T with precisely the options I wanted. I suppose it is possible to better that deal but my advice is not to be too greedy. If you can spend $44K you can spend $45K; the dealer must make a profit too. Best luck.

If there are other dealers nearby, try them. Otherwise maybe you can ask to see a salesman who is interested in making a sale.<p>

Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
One thing you can try to do pricing is to look at The Motley Fool's website. They have a section on buying a car which worked decently for me (http://www.fool.com/). I mostly followed their instructions, came back to my original dealer with the result, let him make an offer based on it, and closed happy (and then proceeded to change my order to a 2001 but I digress.
). I think the total negotation time with him was, maybe 10 min. and I paid a couple hundred more than if I'd gone with the lowest price but I think I was fair. As for getting a dealer you can work with, your best bet is probably to be outspoken. If you don't like the way the dealer is acting towards you, speak to another (either leave and come back or, if you're really good (i'm not
), ask right on the spot). There's nothing that says you have to stay with the dealer who happened to see you first in the showroom. One last thing, I doubt you'll get a car at invoice. For one thing, Audi doesn't have holdbacks (to anyone's knowledge), for another the A6 is selling very well (better than the A4 according to their #s, right?) so there probably isn't a lot of pressure to move the vehicles. You might be able to pick a 2000 up for close to invoice though. Most people are getting $1-2K over. I'm getting $1500 on a 2001 and think that's a fair and good deal.
