Scared the crap out of me!
Got in the car tonight after a wonderful dinner and turned on the lights to go home. Car was fine for about 2 minutes when the instrument cluster went dead! no speedo or tach or info deal and the interior lights went out! I was freakin out! The car drove fine but for a car with 179 miles on it, I was vexed! Tried to turn the lights on and of to no avail. Drove for about 15 minutes and the and the info center in the middle of the cluster started flickering red and orange and beeping like crazy! then slowly one after the other, things started to work again. Has this happened to anyone else? should I be worried it might happen again?

I'd be worried. I had that happen to me flying low level in a B52 at night and almost lost the plane. You didn't say if the headlights went out but if they did that could kill you on a dark country road.
