Another Newbie
Greetings!
I just got my '01 Tornado Red/Vanilla 2.7T six-speed last week. So far, so good; distortion in the windshield is the only problem. Even the fuel gauge works!
One question, is there a factory approved dust-free brake pad available for the car? I had Repco MetalMasters on my old 325i and they were great. But I'm worried that they would void any warranty coverage on the brakes. Suggestions?

I asked my dealer the same ?
Their answer was "they're working...wash the wheels". Not exactly what I was after 
I'm not sure how aftermarket pads would affect warranty. If your rotors warp they may try to blame it on them.
I too had distortion in the windshield. Dealer replaced it, no ?'s. But I've still got the problem with the new one. I even looked at the replacement B4 they installed it and didn't see the problem. My advice...leave it in if you can "ignore" it. Don't break that seal until you really have to.

I appreciate your reply. Unfortunately the distortion is right in my line of sight, so it's tough to ignore. When yours was replaced, did you have any problems with leakage?
BTW, lousy answer from the dealer on the dust free pads!
