Well, I get my windshield replaced Friday at 8:00 AM.....
I am having to pay $41 to have it over-night shipped since we leave for a 2 week vacation in the car on the 29th. The total bill was quoted at $573.24 including the over-night charges. The glass shop that is performing the replacement is ordering the windshield from my dealer so it will be OEM glass. The gentleman who is installing it is who my dealer asks for when they handle these situations for their other Audi and Porsche customers. They say he is very familiar with my car and is "meticulously clean". I am not as worried as I was on Sunday when the glass cracked while washing it. The rock-pit is the cause, thusly there will be no warranty help. Oh well.
Now all I have to do is wait until September 18th to get my rear bumper-cover repaired and then Ginger will be like new again! Ginger is the Nav system voice who lives in my car ;-) She is a red-head ;-)))

Car insurance should replace it depends on the deductible $$

I would recommend aftermarket glass
My windshield was wavy, so I had it replaced (under warranty), and the replacement is worse.
I am thinking of ponying the $$$ to get an aftermarket (PPG) replacement so I can get ride of the distortion.

This shop, who works with my dealer, said that they have had fitment problems on the A6s in the past with aftermarket glass. I do not know what brand/s however. They did say they have not tried any aftermarket glass on A6s since '99 however.
