Speeding ticket update...(long)
Well, today I received in the mail a plea bargain form from the municipal court stating my violation no longer requires a court appearance. The plea bargain states:
"Upon plea of guilty to the amended charge, the City of Arvada moves to dismiss the original charge (speeding) and amend to "Defective Vehicle" and 2 points will be assessed against your driving record.
Amount of fine: $30 Processing Fee: $15"
Bwaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! Defective Vehicle. Bwaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Oh, my sides are splitting! Hey, they can call it whatever they want if they're gonna do this for me!
Apparently my "good" driving record saved my bacon this time. I'd been clean for 7 years. Phew! What a relief! Hell, I'd have easily paid TWICE that to get off the hook. While the letter states the City Attorney has determined my eligibility for the reduced fine, I really think the officer may have mitigated it some too.
Lessons learned:
1. Don't speed (keep your record clean)
2. Prey you get a kewl cop if you do get nabbed.
3. Buy a V1 if you know you can't obey #1 ;-)
Just thought I'd share this with the forum. I'd never heard of such a thing before. Gotta go. Time to do a jig in the street!
Drive safe ;-)<p><img SRC=http://home.earthlink.net/~gstahara/Graphics/Coloraudi.jpg Border=0></a>
