Default Home Link pet peeve

I was realizing today, as I was in a new Volvo with a buddy, that all the cars I have been in for the last few years, with Home Link have all used a very small oval pad for the control buttons. However, Audi is using the MONSTER box hanging from the visor. Just wondering why, as the others look so much better???? Perhaps the other visors have hidden the electronics in the visor body?
rick in the SF East Bay

My Infinifi has a very small oval, too. I was wondering the same thing...

Huh? I haven't looked inside a 2000 or 2001 but I would hardly call the HomeLink mounting on my '99 "hanging". It's built into the visor, and is definitely visible, but I don't find it at all intrusive. Hanging? Ugly? They must have changed the mounting setup because that sure doesn't sound like my car.

How SMALL is the oval pad you've seen...if you consider the Home Link pad in the Audi visor a "MONSTER box hanging from the visor".

I think the Home Link pad size is fine.

Mine looks very neat. Your complaint is nothing but nit-pickin'.

"Too" big or not is objective. But it "is" bigger. About 3 times bigger than most others.

Default Definitely larger in the A6 than the S80...

My wife drives a 2000 S80 T-6. You're right, the homelink buttons are in a much smaller, sleeker space than in my 2.7t. Not a big deal certainly, but it makes you wonder why. I don't even notice it anymore.... sure beats a big, clunky remote in any event.

Default .which is way I said "pet peeve" :-) .. more..

.. just a matter of esthetics.. but every other car I have seen in the last 3 years with home link, uses a VERY small oval shaped control - about 1 3/4 x 3/4 inch. Mounted flush in the visor. Very discreet. While the Audi looks like someone glued a cig pack on the visor. ...never said ugly, just have seen better integration.

And when spending $44k+ for a car, I get to nit pick ! :-)
rick in the SF East Bay
