1st oil change tomorrow (more)
Called dealer today and asked their recommendation for oil. They use Vavoline 10W-40. He said to wait till the 2nd oil change to go to the synthetic. What do you all think?? Should I go Mobil 1 now for 1st oil change?

How many miles and months? What So. Cal. dealer? Will be int to hear if they have any comments about your non-dealer installed springs. My WW installed Eibachs have a drop closer to 1.5" vs the advertised 1.2" (30mm). Satisfied but concerned about further settling.

The reason the spacecraft crashed at Area 51 was that the aliens did an oil change too early...
The manual said to wait until 800000000 light years, but the owner was an old hot rodder and changed it at 400000000, so the linear dynamic partical drive failed early. I can't seem to find the link to that post on Outerworld.com, but I will soon! But I think there was a TSB on it.

Do it now ming. I did mine with my dealers blessing at 5000 and will continue to do so every 5k.
It cant hurt. I plan on driving this car about 150k miles and just feel better doing it. Always have and have never had any engine problems. I have put at least 150k on three different cars. Used Mobil One in all!!

I would agree here . . .
My dealer had sent a reminder to get the oil changed at 5K miles which conflicted with the manual (5K kilometers). The service advisor said the same thing as the poster above. Use dino oil at the 5K change and then bring the car back in at 8K+ for the switch to synthetic.
This could all be snake oil b.s. for all I know. However, to ensure that I had recourse if there ever were any problems I followed the manual for the change interval and switched to synthetic at that point. I personally will follow the published manual delivered with my vehicle to ensure that I have the maximum recourse should I ever encounter any problems.
