The S6 is one of the best looking cars Audi has ever made, especially if you choose the darker colo

Now a lot of people may wanna disagree with me about this. But I think my opinion is valid. The S6 quattro is simply the best looking car (bar the TT) Audi has ever produced. It looks so different from anything that has gone before.

I agree. The styling makes A8's on the dealer lots look somewhat dated. It's unfortunate that here in the states Audi does'nt treat the rear bumper of 4.2's with the exhaust exposed in the same manner

You are absolutely correct, but I hate to clean a darker color....
Mine is silver, and I will not buy a car if it is not in that color....
(black or the darker green is fabulous, but keeping it that way with no use of a car wash in Missouri
is not easy....)

I agree if you're talking about the 4.2 - it's got the look - I still love my 2.7.

I had a (please forgive past transgression) GrandPrix in dark (DARK) teal/green. From the exit of the car wash to the end of the block it would start getting dirty again.

I love (L-O-V-E) Ming Blue. It's not so much the color (which is very cool) but the iridescence of it - it changes hue in the sun/moon/etc. Dirt just doesn't show as much with this 3D-ish background.

The other thing I love is that I'm not a "purist" with hand-washing/waxing/etc. I'll do the "really good stuff" once a quarter or so, but for the weekly maintenance washes, Lechmeme Car Wash is a great thing here in MA. This color/paint finish is very tolerant.

That is *so* good to hear, as I hope to take delivery of a Ming Blue A6 in February, possibly earlier.

Have you decided on your interior yet? You and I have exchanged a lot on this already, but I learned something yesterday that I don't recall seeing discussed here before: It's pretty well-known that the Ambition interiors use a "vertical" stitch pattern in the seats, while Advance and Ambiente use a horizontal pattern. Other than available colors and wood types, there's another significant difference between Advance and Ambiente: The texture of the leather in Ambiente is MUCH smoother than that used in Advance, which is rough and textured like the leather used in Ambition. It's a very noticable difference.

Bottom line:

Ambiente = Melange, Vanilla/Black, Vanilla/Royal Blue, smooth leather, horizontal stitch pattern, light-colored wood.

Ambition = Black, Maroon/Black, rough leather, vertical stitch pattern, dark wood.

Advance = Tungsten Gray, rough leather, dark wood.

Of course, only leather is available in the 4.2; in the 2.8 and 2.7T you can still get cloth (Advance only) or leatherette (Ambition & Ambiente).

I also learned that in the Ambition, the 2001 brochure refers to black as "Satin Black", but on the window stickers of 2001 cars it's still called "Onyx".<p>mpuzach
