Wider tires...need mudflaps or not

I'm putting 235/45 R17 times on my 2.7T. Do I need to have the Audi mudflaps put on to avoid crap getting kicked up on the side body panels?

Have 'em on my A4, they are worth it, just to protect the lower bodywork.

I have them on my 2.7T, and I just put bigger tires (245/45 x 17s) on, and I'd say I'll be glad I've got them. My car is lowered with the Eibach springs, so the splash-guards will be more effective than on a "stock" height car. I do a lot of skiing and the mountain roads are really loaded with all kinds of nasty stuff for car panels. If the pic-poster ever works, I'll post pics.<p>Peter R Dieckerhoff
