Thinking of trading A4 for A6......are dealers giving a decent price for trades? Any salespeople?
I only want a basic A6 2.8, with quattro, xenon, and sunroof. My goal would be to get the payment to $500 or less each month. Is this possible? My A4 seems to be worth more than I owe on it.

Not really sure, but if you're going to do it, the sooner the better. I think the closer to the new A4 intro date we get, the less "old models" will be worth (even if it's slight).

You can make your payment anything you want ...
by varying either the down or the term of the loan. The cost of the car is almost irrelevant.
If you go back to your original salesperson and tell them your plan, they may be willing to accomodate you. But don't expect any huge favors.

Sell your A4 yourself, then have the dealer run the sale through the dealership.
I bought my 2.7T last month, and started out figuring I would do a trade-in. The dealer only offered me $14,000 (96 A4 with 50,000 mi). But, for $250, the dealer will run the sale so that you can count it as a trade-in, and only pay taxes on the difference between purchase price and trade-in. I sold my car for $16,000 through ads in the local paper/internet, and I met the buyers at the dealership. This is definitely the way to go if you want to get your money's worth.
