I give up... where's my ECU?? ('96 A6Q)
Someone help!! I need to find it to find out what chip I can get (yes you heard right... chip for the 2.8L 12v!!) E-mail me for more info... still need to find my ECU to get a final answer though!

Thanks! I was just there...
... figured you would have it in your tech section, and you do! I'll have to check that at home when I have the time to tinker. I'm guessing that the ECU is there on the 100/A6 as well. I'm going to be prepared with a camera to photograph the evil Hitachi ECU. =)<p>>>Muhammad

Don't go there man!
C&D and most people who've tried them find little gain from engine reprogramming on normally aspirated engines. You *MIGHT* get some improvement from reprogramming the automatic transmission shifting if your car has a slushbox. See referenced article for details.
"Certainly, we learned that these chips offer more performance gains on automatic-transmission-equipped cars. Of the three manual cars we tested, only the Dinan reprogram offered a tiny performance improvement, but all three automatics went considerably quicker with the chips. If we owned a manual-transmission car, we wouldn't pop for a chip unless we were hoping to lift a top-speed governor."
