Help: new Audi purchaser needs lowest prices for A6
2000 model is a year old now, I would see if you could get one for a 'drive off the lot price' at invoice. If theres a 2000 on the lot, its been there awhile and costing them money to carry it. Car has lost alot of value in depreciation.

The dealers are very motivated if you are not picky. $1000 over invoice was too low a month ago when we sold our last 2.7t. I'll sell you a 2000 4.2 for $1000 over ( + fees = tax, lic, reg ). For this, you get a proper delivery and any assistance you might need that I can provide in the future.
You might have better luck getting a lower price and having some selection in the 2.8 range. Keep in mind that unless pinching each penny until it squeeks is what gives you greatest pleasure, get the car you really want and pay a fair price to avoid hassles.
Anyone can tell you to go and beat your brains out and burn bridges. If you have read this forum, you should know what to expect to pay.
Sorry for the bluntness - just spent time in a no BS zone.
Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
Maybe a thing to consider, if you are trading this car in for another car in 3-4 years, the 2000 model will be worth less than the 2001 even though it was bought on the same day, same miles,,,just a different model year... Maybe the difference in the purchased price(over invoice amount) would help offset some of this loss. If car would be kept long term, then this difference is peanuts. I looked at Kellys Blue book and ran a 1999 A6 with a 1998 A6 same miles, good condition and the trade-in price was $3300 different.
