New 2.7T and questions
The car was bulit 12/99. Here are my questions.
1. Does this car need the fuel gauge sender recall service? The salesman said no, but I would never bet the farm on what a salesman tells me (no offense, but I've had too many salesmen who barely know where to stick the ignition key on cars on which they were supposed experts).
2. What running changes have been made that I should look out for (i.e., get a new style TBB)?
3. What is the torque specification for the wheel bolts? I have never had a car delivered with all the bolts properly torqued.
4. What spark plugs does the 2.7T use? In my experience, car makers frequently sacrifice performance for longer service intervales. If the stock plug is platinum, I want it out now as I have never had good luck with platinum plugs and turbos (I'll explain why if anyone wants to know).
Thanks in advance for any help.
Ira

2. I have a 4.2, so I cant answer that other than get the new TBB before yours fails (if it ever does). It will prevent possible over-revving of your turbo.
3.The torque spec is in your manual. If I remember correctly, it is 89 ft/lbs of torque (on the 4.2 with 17" at least).
4. I have no idea about 2.7Ts but I would like to know about the platinum / turbo thing. I am curious. Thanks in advance!
I looked a bit further in the owners manual and you were correct, the torque specs are listed for the wheel bolts (90 ft-lb).
Ira

I'm in the Boston area, have yet to see another red A6 of any type on the roads, where are you?
Beautiful color. I only considered Red and Japis, which was impossible to find.
BTW, as you've read elsewhere here, 17" wheels with high performance tires
make a huge difference in the cars handling characteristics. Good luck
I've already been checking out the wheel and tire options at the Tire Rack. I will probably get a package in a few months, or maybe wait until spring.
Ira
