My 2.7t owner's manual says "oil capacity = 6 qts with filter." But my car seems to want ~ 7 qts ..
to be full. I changed my oil and filter at 9250 miles today and installed 5.75 qts of Mobil-1 15w-50. I held back .25 qts because I didn't want to take a chance of overfilling. Well, 5.75 qts barely had the oil touching the bottom of the dipstick. And, this was after a little driving and appropriate waiting time and with repeated dipstick readings.
After adding more oil up to 6.5 qts total, the level is now about half way between the add and full marks. Is this consistent with what others have found, that your 2.7t's need ~7 qts to be full, rather than the 6 qts stated in the owner's manual?
Boy, it really irritates me to think that I can't trust my owner's manual's accuracy on something as important as engine oil capacity! Misinformation like that is really dangerous!
