Default mtm chip

just installed mtm chip this weekend. What a difference. It (my 2.7t) is scary fast now. Extremely smooth and linear power delivery once past the lag. Reminds me much more of my initial drive in an S4. Combined with the short shift kit from UUC (which is more accurate and solid feeling than short) this is now a serious sports sedan.

Default I'm going to chip my 2.7T - what made you go with MTM?

There aren't a whole lot of 2.7T chippers out there, so any input you can give me will be greatly appreciated. I've narrowed it down to MTM, GIAC, APR or Wett - any experience with the others??

Read the S4 chip review @ www.europeanspeed.com. They confirm what I had heard... more and smoother power with mtm.

Mine is at 20% People had frightened me off the 40% I must say that it is worth installation just for the positive feel.

Default MTM looked really good - but revised GIAC test shows really nice dyno plots also.

And Wett is within 3 1/2 hours driving distance. If MTM is that much better, I may drive to Atlanta to have them do the install - I'd like them to do the 'clear code' stuff, and check out things since I've heard rumors about the 'immobilizer problem' for 2001's. Did you do the ECU remove/install yourself? Any prob's?

You said 'once past the lag...' How did the chip affect your throttle response? Did they cut out the rev limiter? I've heard 7500 rpm is ok. How does the power feel at high rpm? I've heard the exhaust on the a6 is more restrictive than the S4, and this hurts at high revs.

Sorry about all the ??'s, but you're one of the few MTM chipped 2.7T's, and I'm getting close to a decision. Thanks for your help!

Default The revised GIAC DNYO to me looks better than the MTM, longer pull at the high end...

I can't say enough goood things about the mtm. Remember that it's the only chip I've experienced , but the power is unbelieveable. Delivery is smooth and awesome. I think I only notice the "lag" because the peak power/torque is so much greater than stock. This thing is now a monster. Yes the exhaust is more restrictive, but th hp/tq figures are greater than a stock S4. I've driven both, no doubt the mtm 2.7t is faster than S4. I installed myself. took all of ten minutes if that . Very easy. You'd waste money getting someone else to do it. I am so pleased. Price is higher , but I wanted the best. I did'nt want to compromise the daily perf/smoothness just for speed. This is my commuter. I owned a Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4- This is now easily that fast- guess 0-60 @ 5.5

I have lost the thread on the big dyno tests of chips for the 2.7 T. Can someone direct me please? Also, where are people buying the MTM chips. They don't seem to have a Web site that I can find. Thanks

Default Rumor has it that the GIAC test...

was done with chips being created on the spot with various engine warning and monitoring functions turned OFF during the test. Ouch! I think the first tests are valid and the GIAC not.

If nothing else wait for the new test or just talk to an MTM owner. -Pete<p><img SRC="http://www.stratmosphere.com/sigb.jpg"BORDER=0></a>
