Default Pics of my 99 A6 2.8 FWD

Bought the car about a month ago and got the tinkering bug. Mods so far:

Debadged
Tinting, Sungard 35% (medium) all around
Eibachs Pro-Kit/Bilsteins HD
Kamei Sport Grill,

Planned/Mulling over:
17" Borbet Type R's
Exhaust, looking for what's available
Chip ECU & Tip
Hella Black Taillights, might look good with windows and rear being dark

Reminds me of the fun I had modifying my first car a 71 Datsun 510.

Default Thanks, color looks better than the pics...

Still getting use to my first digital camera. Been having trouble getting the sharpness and color a regular camera provided but that's a topic for another website.

When the kids first saw the car they thought it was great but was I going to get THAT color? They really like it now.

Default Thanks, the ride? well read on my friend...

After reading various posts and mfgs. sales pitches I was expecting a smoother riding car with the tightness around the corners I was looking for. Progressive rate springs, yada, yada, yada. I thought what a great combinatrion that would be. I had a Lexus GS300 before and loved the smoothness of it, I think it handled better than a stock A6 does.

Well, It does handle great around the corners, the brake diving is non-existent and I have a better feeling of control of the car. But the ride is definitely harsher, perhaps not overly so but more than I was expecting. I can feel all the repairs and uneveness in the pavement and the CD player now skips, which it never did before.

Was the tradoff worth it? Only had the setup for a week so hard to tell. I was told by Eddie that it takes 2-3 weeks for the system to settle in. I like it now but will I feel the same way in a year? Maybe. I feel like I bought a car that had all this engineering put in to make it a smooth ride and that is now gone.

I like the lowered look, so maybe I would have tried the Audi Eibachs first by themselves and kept the stock shocks and see how that was. Would cost more in the long run for two separate installs, if the shocks were changed.

Perhaps I'm just spoiled from the GS and should test drive an S4 or M3 for a better comaprison of a sportier stock ride vs aftermarket.

I now realize that there are trade-offs in doing this stuff, otherwise the mfgs would build it in to begin with. They have to deal with compromises and so do the aftermarket guys.
