Default Need info on change from sport springs to standard....

I'm seriously considering changing from sport springs to standard. The roads around here are awful and this otherwise incredible car really beats me up. Can the springs be changed without changing other components? I wonder if keeping the other sport components would result in a nice compromise. If you have a 4.2 with standard susp are you happy with it? I've read that it can be pretty soft and floaty. I guess I should find one to try out. I drove a standard 2.7T and liked it a lot. Any info or opinions will be appreciated. If you have a set of standard springs you'd like to part with I'm interested!

Different spring rates between 4.2 and 2.7t due to weight.

April is correct....don't put the standard springs from the 2.7T on the 4.2.

i have standard suspension and am not happy with it. The ride is perfect, suspension is still tight but... As I learn how to use the car and drive a little more aggressively i find it rolls and dives more than I want when cornering with elevation changes. I admit the roads here in Socal are generally very good. I dont think testing a 2.7 is going to help, the 4.2 is a different animal completely. Wanna trade parts?

i too have the a6 4.2 standard springs and i do not like it. it roll and dives to much for a car like this. i wish i could put your springs on my car. i would buy them from you if i could get them to fit!! you should drive a non-sport 4.2 first before change.

Perhaps a lower tire inflation would smooth out the ride

Default ditto on tire pressure

The car may really be a little harsher than you like - there is a reason they sell all those Lexus (Lexi?). The people who buy them are not idiots (at least not universally) - they just like something different. The stock suspension is actually very nice in a straight line on the high way - it absorbs bumps very nicely but rolls a little much for some people on twisty roads. It is still a lot tighter than most cars. But I would check the tire pressure first. Your choice of tires can make a difference too - if you are using Z rated performance 17" tires you may find a more gentle ride with 16" tires from a different performance category.

My 2.7T felt very rough after the winter - my tires were actually in the 45 psi range. I bought myself a decent tire pressure gauge and move down to 38 psi and suddenly the roads felt much smoother. It really makes a big difference.
