More NAV problems. 0 satellites of 8? Any ideas?

More NAV problems. 0 satellites of 8? Any ideas?
My NAV now thinks I'm in the middle of Saratoga, CA, regardless of where I drive. This is in addition to the little jog control that occasionally won't click, and enters all kinds of wierd information on its own.

Sounds like a combination of things . . .
I know that in the aircraft I fly, if the nav drops the sats I immediately check the antenna coupling/cable. If it is a portable I check the antenna itself as well as the cable. Maybe the antenna is not connected properly or the cable has been damaged or cut.
In regards to the ***, I have never had trouble with the *** and it sounds like it may have been stripped or damaged. It may not be connected properly as well. You need to have service look at the problem(s). Otherwise you are chasing gremlins and that will prove frustrating.
In a completely different direction, sometimes you can have earth based activities that will cause a gps to lose the ability to pick up the satellites. This includes laser testing and other military functions/exercises. Are you near a military installation?
These are just a few of the things that could affect the gps. I am sure others will have additional causes and it may end up being something as simple as an incorrect install.

My nav on A6 4.2 says I'm offroad always.
Dealer has ordered new unit. He will warranty it, but claims there has been something spilled in unit. I am sure nothing has been spilled in it, but don't really need to argue with him.I think its defective.

Well, I have my first service on Friday.
I'll let them know I'm having problems. It was great for a while, but first the jog control started slipping. Then, all of a sudden, I get no satellite reception whatsoever.
I'm not near a military installation and haven't had it "activate" even after driving from home to Cupertino and back.
I'd check the connection, but don't know where it is. If you know...
