Default Need Dunlop SP5000 feedback - 98' A6Q

I just got a new set of SP5000's today to replace the Conti touring tires that were OE. I expected the Dunlops to put the H rated Conti's to shame. The Dunlops seem to need more steering wheel input before they react and they dont seem to have as much dry traction. Is there a wear-in period, or something. Is there some slippery coating that I am supposed to wash off or let wear off. Everyone says these tires are great. What's up with mine?

Give it 4 or 5 hundred miles of easy driving to find out what they are really like.

Default I had Continental CV/90 previously and switched to SP5000's

Bottom line, I think Continental stinks...

The SP5000 despite being an all season tire is quieter, handles better, gives the car a softer ride, and has very good wet traction.. The Continentals did nothing well..

What tire pressure should I run? The sticker on the car shows 32 to 42 psi.

Default Love mine...

replaced Goodyear Eagles with 225/50-16 5000s. Took a few hundred miles to "scuff in". I mounted mine the day before a 375 mile trip to our hunting lodge on the northern edge of Wisconsin. Immediately noticed an improvement in ride, noise and straight line stability and a moderate improvement in handling. By the time I got to the lodge (speeds of 75 - 90+ without a trace of a shake) the tires were working much better. Have made the trip in the winter as well and they are satisfactory in most snow conditions, just too wide for deep piles of wet snow between lanes at highway speeds.

With the old Goodyears, I was running 42 front/38 rear psi to get them to work. Now I run 34/32. Granted I have the PSK rear sway bar. These tires picked up a good 5-8 mph on my favorite on-ramp on my daily commute and they did it without the howling of the Goodyears.

Give them a few hunderd miles, the greasy feel will go away.

Default Had SP5000's on my BMW and was very satisfied. All tires

will need a break in period, at least a couple hundred miles. Upgraded my Audi with SP9000's and love them too! I've had nothing but good experiences with Dunlops for a long time.
