Strange noise . . .
There is a constant, rather loud whirring/humming noise (but no vibration) from the front end at any speed above about 15 mph, which increases in volume as speed increases (leveling off at higher speeds, but that may just be because wind noise, etc., is drowning out any further increase in the noise I'm worried about) but does not change in pitch. The peculiar thing is that it is very noticeably louder when turning to the right, and almost disappears when turning to the left, on curves. I don't think it's the tires, and I'm careful to keep them equally and correctly inflated (34 psi, per advice of Gary at Ronal when I got the wheel/tire combination from him), although I suppose it could be one faulty tire (right front?), but then wouldn't it also cause a vibration? I beginning to wonder if this could be a wheel bearing or something weird happening in the Torsen/front differential. As some may remember, my rack & pinion blew up at about 2500 miles and was replaced, but it doesn't seem likely that that could be related, since any faulty part in the steering should make noise, if faulty, only when turning and not going straight, which isn't the case. I did pick up a nail in the right front tire and had it repaired/rebalanced. Wheel/tire details in signature below. Any suggestions/comments?

i found the source of the humming noise on my 2.8 quattro.... i changed my horns this weekend and i noticed that the noice is gone.... so i think it's just how they positioned the horns when they mounted the horns and it was catching some air when turning to the right... i changed mine to a hella horns and it's gone!!! try repositioning your horns...
