Default LATCH system for child car seat - does anyone have it?

I've posted here before about this: does anyone have the LATCH system installed in their A6? In Europe the system is ISOFIX; LATCH is the U.S. version, and it is a bit different. Basically there are two anchors at the base of the rear seatback, where it meets the seat. You have to get one of just a couple of child car seats that have the lower straps to attach to the LATCH system. It is more secure and much easier to install than the usual struggle with the seat belt system - you don't use the seat belts at all.
Previously in this forum, people have posted URLs showing what LATCH and ISOFIX are. I already know that.
My 2001 A6 manual says that my car *has* the LATCH system - but it doesn't! My dealer doesn't even know what it is. A previous posted listed a part number for a retrofit that is supposed to make the A6 compatible; he said (back in January) that he was getting the part for his car and would followup, but he never did (followup, that is). My dealer said back in February that he called AoA and someone there did know about it, and that Audi would be issuing a service bulletin "in a few weeks". Now's it's been 2.5 months and still no bulletin - and the service dept (Rockville Porsche/Audi, in Maryland) says they don't know anything about it. In fact, they asked if I could post here to learn more.
Does anyone know how to get the LATCH system put on an A6? Do the newer 2001s have it? Mine is an early 2001, got it last July.

Default LATCH in U.S. is phased-in in 2 stages,

the first being the upper tether connection point that your car has, and the lower connection points which will be added later (but only Audi can tell you when on the A6, except that the law has a time limit).

VW's have LATCH now, so maybe you can use those parts in your Audi - worth checking out.

Here's a quote from the URL below:
"LATCH system components will be phased in. Twenty percent of model year 2001 vehicles and 50 percent of model year 2002 vehicles must be LATCH system-equipped. All passenger vehicles and child safety seats built after September 1, 2002 (model year 2003) must have the LATCH system."

Default LATCH can be retrofitted to any VW/Audi* from 1998 on

All VWs/Audis (except for the TT and VW Van) can have ISOFIX/LATCH installed. They were already designed with the mounting points (lower and upper). It's fairly cheap too.

Search in this group.

Default LATCH and ISOFIX aren't different from a car point of view

LATCH allows ISOFIX hard lower attachment and soft (strap) lower attachment. The mounting points are identical.

I believe no car comes with LATCH/ISOFIX preinstalled, because you can feel the attachment points sometimes when you sit down (you'll see when you get it installed). However, it only takes 3 bolts and a bracket to install ISOFIX on your A6. That is what Audi means by having it preinstalled. This is what is generally meant by having it preinstalled.

I've searched repeatedly, and I just keep getting the same info. Yes, I know that the LATCH threads are there. But my dealer has no idea about any retrofit kit. Earlier posts said that Audi will install LATCH free on any 2001 (which I have), but no one has given me enough specifics to go to my dealer with. Also, none of the posters have said explicitly that they have LATCH on their own cars, so I'd love to hear from someone who actually has it! If you're out there, tell me how I can get it.

Default Found it! Different from Allroad though

My dealer surprised me - an enterprising parts department found the bracket for installing the LATCH system in an A6 sedan! The part number is 8D0-813-545. Note that this is NOT the part posted by Dion for his Allroad - it has a different part number and presumably is a different size. Cost is $57.50 and they said they'd get it by middle of next week. I'll post a followup when I get it installed (I hope!)

Default I was researching ISOFIX/LATCH system a while back and saw a problem...

Current ISOFIX/LATCH can only be installed in the rear left/right passenger seats, and not the middle one which is the safest in case of side impact. So there's a compromise between front/rear and side collision safety.
