Fence Sitting and Test Driving.
My Bimmer 740 comes off lease end of this month. I have not yet bought any car and not likely to get one soon. They just don't yet make the car I realy want.
The Bimmer had opened a lot of doors for me; I realised this more in the last 2 months when I was test driving anything on wheels over 40k.
Most sales people handed over the key to test drive the cars - no license copy or even name ; just take it alone and come back when done. I guess the Canali Jacket and the Rolex might have helped some too.
The Benz E430 4matik - Over engineered cup holder-what else is there that I can not see is designed by the same enginner. Overheard in the Benz dealership "We know what the problem is - the coputer told us it is co2 sensor, but try locating it and getting to it will take hours"
The Audi A6 - did not like the factory phone -nearly got it - and I read about 2002.
The Jag. type S - Aha the look, but do you buy a car by the look? Do you marry by the look?

Went from a 97 740il to an A6 2.7t enhanced sport
I like the A6 more than the BMW. The only thing I sometimes wish I had was the 740il rear leg room. The A6 is faster and with the PST sport option it handles better too. The features and fit and finish of the Audi are maybe a bit better than the BMW but certainly as good. If you need more room than an A6 then get the A8 or better still the S8. The S8 is way more cool than a 740. As my brother in law said (he has a 740il) the 740s are as common as Expeditions. When I sold my 740il to a dealer last year, he told me that over 100,000 of them would be coming off lease in the following year.

Banter, I love them all too. I traded my BMW 750il on the A6 4.2 because I was bored. The Audi is usually more fun to drive, but the BMW was more comfortable and had more features. The a/c in the BMW was weak. I almost bought a Lexus LS430. I think my next auto will be a Lexus. I am always looking. So many cars, so little time...
