Default Problems With My 4.2

I'm still having residual problems from the issue of the diesel contaminated fuel at my Texaco station. The check engine light keeps coming on. I have to have the catalytic converter and oxygen sensor replaced. I'm not sure that replacing them will actually solve the problem and am afraid I will be dealing with on-going problem from this incident for awhile.

My GPS system just stopped working. It won't turn on. In addition, the ABS and ESP warning lights just came on last night. I don't know what's up with that as yet. I've had intermittent problems with my right xenon headlight not working (of course not when I take it in for service) and my telescoping steering column has a mind of its own with respect to when it wants to telescope.

All in all it's getting kind of frustrating. The car drives great, but I'm getting kind of tired dealing with Audi service.

O2 sensor will trigger the "check Engine" light with little provocation.

Can't help with the GPS problem...my hand held Garmin is reliable as rock.

Call AOA or the area service rep for Audi. They can make sure that the dealer will be compensated for the extra time it might take to get everything foxed correctly. Don't do what I did, just kept taking it back over and over again, or you will be talking lemon law before long. Once AOA was notified by me that I was thinking about lemon lay all the problems started to be seriously delt with, a replacement radio magically appeared and the dealer started really spending some time on the car.

April could probably explain this better than I but it is not necessarally the dealers fault that they are not finding the cause of your problems. AOA only allows so much time for troubleshooting a problem. If the dealer spends more than the alloted amount of time on a problem they may not get paid for it. AOA or the area rep can authorize additional time so it gets done correctly.

Default Maybe you should want the lemon law thing to take effect...

given the unknown long-term, potentially recurrent problems you may have from the gas fiasco. Although that wouldn't be fair for Audi to get stuck for the gas station error. But, if you are having other, unrelated problems, maybe this is a car you might not mind getting replaced.

I am certainly uncomfortable about the potential long term on-going problems due to the gas but the insurance company (for the gas carrier) has already said they would not "buy" the car and neither will Texaco at this point. Audi knows about the problem and is not interested in taking the hit. I think I just have to wait and see how bad it is down the road.

Default Good luck, it is quite unfortunate...Just to clarify, I wasn't really suggesting to stick Audi...

just that if there were other unrelated but significant repetitive problems, you might not mind seeing this one go.
The insurance company should just buy the car and then sell it, which would relieve them from any potential future "hassles" from you, if there are any problems and thereby, limit their liability.
Either way, I wish you luck and hopefully there will be no ongoing problems

Default I think you need to start the buyback process

It doesn't sound like you got your money's worth. If you not dead-set about getting rid of the car and can still think clearly, it's the best time to negotiate.

IMO, I agree w/phred. Get rid of this car a.s.a.p.. Keeping it will probably be endless torture.
