Your pick for same $: Passat W8 4Motion or A6 3.0 quattro?
OK, it's a slow day and I thought I would stir up some trouble. This is a not so hypothetical question for current and potentioal A6 buyers. Given that the 2002 VW Passat will be available with a 4.0 liter 275-hp W8 engine with standard 4Motion and a manual 6-speed transmisson, would you buy such a Passat for close to 40 grand fully loaded or would you rather get an A6 3.0 quattro for about the same money?
Being a fanatic about stick shifts, I would have to go with the Passat W8, even though it is not in the same class as the A6 in terms of size, prestige and build quality. Hopefully VWoA will not chicken out and make the 6-speed available.
