Audi Class Action Settlement notice I received in the mail...
Has everyone here received this?
Notice of Pendency of Class Action, Proposed Settlement and Hearing:
To: All persons or entities which were notified by Audi of the "LB" recall of 1998, 1999, and certain 2000 Model year Audi A6 Quattro vehicles...bearing a vehicle identification number equal to or lower than WAUED64B71N068077.
II. The Settlement:
...Under the terms of the "LB" and "LH" recalls, Audi dealers will replace the fuel level sending units in all Class Vehicles with new redesigned components free of charge, at Audi's sole expense. In addition, as part of the "LB" and "LH" recalls and the Settlement, Audi will reimburse affected owners for any out-of-pocket expenses, such as emergency fuel service, towing, lodging, etc., connected with the failure of a fuel level sending unit in a Class Vehicle.
And it looks like the Counsel is making $600,000 for their work

Does this mean anything to me? Haven't Audi dealers been replacing the fuel sensors already? Should I go get my currently-working fuel sensor replaced?
Given the above mentioned $600 000, and based on last years sales (80 000 units) everybodys 2002 Audi just went up by $7.50 !
All this for a repair they were going to do anyway.

I believe Audi should have done a recall on this. I'd be severely pissed off if my fuel gauge went wacko after the warranty period and finding out it was a known problem.
I'm glad the lawsuit got the attention of Audi to do the right thing. But I think it's complete BS that it costs $600k to fill out some forms and file a suit. I'm waiting for the flame response from the lawyers trying to justify a cost like that.

1. Audi will do what they already said they'd do in their recall notices.
2. Audi will give $600K to some lawyers who didn't have to do much since Audi already had the recall out.
Scammers.
