Scrap with a Mustang
I was on SR 441 in Florida. Heading to New Smyrna beach when this blond headed punk pulls up behind me at the speed of light. He probably saw me laughing and shaking my head, because when i looked again he wasnt there. So imediatly I see him in my left rear view comming on strong. So me and my baby, (95 A6 with TAP intake system), We open a can and i through her into third. By now we were at about 90 mph. he kept up until then. This however was the last I saw of him. He seemed to be tugging on the wheel of his car but kept on getting slower (now at my babe was at 120 mph). I know this becasue my little noise maker came on to tell me about it. I then slowed down and let the poor sucker pass. He seemed happy to be infront of a way superior car. Funny!!
it then occured to me that his car sgoul dbe faster, shouldnt it??? He has more hp and way more tq. whast up with that??? Any thoughts??

Us die hards use the automatic like a tip. ;)
I usually reserve 2nd and 3rd for driving around town, under 50mph... and mostly use just 3rd. I hate to have to jump 1krpm so often with the shifts, if I only want to speed up 5mph or so.

I think gearing down is bad, but if gear up from first its fine.
the mustang was a new 5 speed V6. I have a auto but third is so easily accesible its hard to ignore. We were already doing about 80 mph. Thats when it all started.Plus sometimes when you step on the gas to hard, the car overshifts and you get stuck in second when you really only want third. this is why i "threw" her in to third. that way i could be sure im in the gear i want to be in. Where did the Mustnag 5.0 come from???? Did i say it was a 5.0. Or did somone assume my car would keep up with it??

I am confused about somthing though
If in a mustang the speedo reads 120 mph. Does it actually go that fast??? Cause my car is limited to 130 and goes up to 170mph. re the american cars limited at all in the same respect???

Shift at a stop usually, or when the car is in 3rd already... no actual gear change taking place...
Just prevents it from going into 4th.
The 1st-2nd-3rd thing wouldn't make any sense. Shifting it manually like that makes the gear changes much longer. Only use would be if you wanted to stay in 1st for, say, a 60' time or something.
