Update On Digital Cell Phone Integration
Just received an update on the status of the status of the digital cell phone integration with the steering wheel controls and radio. The Parts Manager at Audi of North Atlanta told me that the development is complete and the system will be available shortly for Nokia 51/61/71 series phones. The StarTac will be sometime in the future.
The parts alone will cost $357.55 and he is waiting for information from AoA on istallation instructions/pricing. This cost is for the Bose radio and will be slightly less for the non-Bose. The phone will sit on a bracket that will be on the dash to the right of the radio and will have an integrated speaker. It will use all of the steering wheel buttons and will operate just like the currently available analog phone. He will know about availability/lead times in the next week or two.

Hi, I'm in the wireless business and the 8 series was meant to be only a "designer type" phone according to Nokia. The 61XX and 71XX are more full featured-i.e. can be more easily integrated than an 8 series. Since AT&T doesn't yet offer the 7XXX series, I may go back to the 6160 because it integrates better and has more accessories.
