Default WHATS A GOOD PRICE ON 18" WHEELS AND TIRES

I was planning on putting 18" BBS RX one piece wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport tires on my 2.7t. Any suggestions out there as far as costs go.

Default Check at TireRack or DiscountTire Direct for the tires or go to...

Discount Tire or America's Tire (same company) since they have the best warranty I've come across--non-prorated, lifetime replacement. I suspect for these 18" ~235s would be in the $260 each range.
I think the 18" looks awesome on the A6 and that is what I would get if I were ever going to replace my 17"s. If your roads are pretty good and you don't mind some bumps they are sweet.
I don't know the wheels real well, but I suspect $500-600 each is likely.
Pretty easy to spend $3500

Default Wintab, they vary greatly. A few examples inside >>>>>>

18" wheels vary in price greatly depending on construction/name/rarity/place of manufacture, for example our Toora T860 18x8 is priced @ $217, while our TECHNA (by Cromodora) 2-piece RX02 18x8.5 is @ $520.

Expect to pay around $259 for the 235/40R18 Michelin Pilot sports, I checked and we do not offer any specials on that size at the moment (although we have the 225/40R18 @$192)

As to package prices expect to be in the $1900 to $3100 neighborhood!

For BBS wheels talk to Eddie@tireack or Joe@Automotives (913-254-9777), tell them I sent'ya!

Default Agree--17" Better

There are several problems with the 18" on a 2.7T. First, there isn't much room for a wide tire/rim, which is the reason Audi goes with a 7 1/2" rim with the PST package. It fits better--within the wheel well. Most 18" wheels are at least 81/2", and they tend to stick out to, or beyond the wheel well. Second, on my PST, an 18 X 8 1/2 rim produced rubbing when hitting bumps in corners. Third, a 235/40 tire has too small a side wall for a 3800 pound car. It forces you to run extremely high tire pressures, 40+, which are uncomfortable, but necessary to protect the rims. Also, you spend all your time worrying about avoiding holes and bumps in the road, in order to avoid damaging your rims. I don't drive like I'm in an SUV, but I don't worry about every bump in the road. Fourth, studies show that 17" actually performs better than 18" in most instances. Finally, the 17" rims/tires are much cheaper. Having said all that, the 18" wheels, with the small sidewall, do look better.

Any rubbing on the 235/45? I have 245/45. I may wait to do the springs after the tires wear out

No rubbing with 235/45/17 before or after the Eibach/Koni.

Default also 18" wheels are usually heavier.

heavier unsprung weight. more work for your suspension. also, it is possibly much easier to damage a 18" wheel than a 17". if need replacement, it will cost more.
