Default Audi going to standard sport suspension in US apparently

They did this in Britain two to three years ago. But it was mentioned the suspension is 3/4" inch lower on the new(ish) A6. At the time I said that perhaps the suspension attachments were lowered and not the car. But now I think that is not the case.

C&D mentions the ride height of the new A4 is equivalent to the ride height of the old sport A4. So I would assume the A6 is the same way. Dunno about the A8 or TT though.

It would appear Audi thinks their new sport suspensions are right for everyone here in the US. With my experience with the old (current) sport suspensions on the A4 and A6 I have to say that I think very very few people would find the sport suspension objectionable. And the new ones should ride a little better since they have les unsprung weight.

the non-sport is what's objectionable.... I couldn't believe the car came like this from the factory

Even my wife HATED the non-sport suspension on a 2.7T.

Oh, I'm feeling pretty righteous now! I wonder what one will get now if the "Sport" is ordered?

Default Just evolution. Wheels used to be 15" standard and 16", 17" optional.

so the calibration of suspension is evolving.
don't remember much about older audi's but, bmw 3 series used to have 15" std, 16" on their E30 M3. now their 3 series have 16" std, 17" optional, and 18" on M3 and 19" optional on M3.

it is a good thing...=)

Default I had an A4Q sport and ...

that was one firm ride, esp. combined with the sport seats! I think giving this suspension to the 2.8 ... excuse me, 3.0 base model is a mistake. This car is designed as an autobahn cruiser, unlike its brethren the 2.7T and 4.2.

Default I agree for the A4...the standard suspension was correct for most A4 buyers...

the sport suspension and sport seats combined made for a very firm ride (one that I like) but a bit harsh for the everyday A4 buyer.
Of course, it may ride lower, but it is not necessarily as firm as the sport suspension on the current A4 and with standard seats, it should still be comfortable for fat-*** Americans

Default summer tires, sport seats

Maybe big rims too. Essentially we are back to how the 2.7T was when it debuted. At that time there was no sport suspension available, so the sport package had only seats, tires and rims.

There might be a sport steering wheel in our future also.

Default The A6 2.8/3.0 should come with standard (current) suspension, the 2.7T and 4.2...

should come standard with the current sport suspension and have an additional sportier suspension available as an option. The vast majority of 2.8/3.0 buyers/future buyers are and will be 50+ blue hairs who would much rather have a ride more akin to a Caddy or Lincoln than a BMW. The average 2.7T buyer is younger and still has some life left in 'em and wants a firmer, sportier ride that they can pretend is as good as a BMW Many still are crazy and want to firm it up even more and race the 2-ton boat...thusly needing a more substantial suspension set-up. Most 4.2 owners are older and fat, but they still think they are 18 so they want their ride to be low and hard with no body roll despite the 4.2 enormous girth and largess. Not too many race 'em but still a select few want a sick-*** suspension set-up that allows for no roll, pitch, or dive at all. They want to make their wife very uncomfortable so she has no desire to ever take the car and leave him with the Outback
Just kidding with the stereotypes above, for the most part. I'm not old or fat
