Default Kids in rear wheel drive v8's....and how they don't understand QUATTRO

OK, I was driving a little spiritted this weekend on some back roads....I went by a kid (18 or so) in a 97? mustang GT..... As he pulled out to follow me, he was set on showing what his GT car could do with a 4 door sedan. Well I knew the road very well and I guess he did too....he was about 1 to 2 cars behind me all the time on some 50 to 75 mph sweepers.

Well we were comming up to a 170 degree hairpin curve......I downshifted down to 2nd for a 30 mph carve......GT still there. I actually slowed down too much, so I floored it well before I hit the apex of the corner. Turbos spooling and I took off accelerating into and out of the corner.

GT man tried to match me......I guess he got on the gas before the apex as well....because when I check my rear view......his back end came around and he ended up on the shoulder facing the wrong direction.

I went back and cheched on him he was ok. He just wanted to know why his mustang gt supercar could not stay with my 4 door family car.

Lets just say I enlightened him to the world of Twin Turbo's, QUATTRO, and physics.

By the way....he was actually a nice kid.

Default Solid axle + no limited slip = throttle oversteer fun!

Live axles are great for the 1/4 mi and really don't make bad road course cars if the driver is experienced. They are very hard to drive aggressively on the street unless a driver is very familiar with the naunces driving a RWD car without IRS.

Default I bet you still have a big smile on your face!!!!

I do not understand why people buy these big trucks for the same reason. In the wet these big RWD trucks (a lot of SUV's sold are RWD) will spin their rear wheels faster than you can say Osama bin Laden. And people buy them beacause they feel safe. Yeah right.

Default Driving any car is like having sex........it is so much better when you know how to do it

If I were driving the GT...I would have kept up with the A6, for the sole fact that I am a good driver and I know the limits of the car.

This is why I was confident I could hit the throttle early with quattro and drift through the turn....

If I were chasing myself, I would have waited untill the exit and then given second gear all it was worth.....May not have caught the A6 right away...but I would not have spun out.
