Default xenon wigged out on me last night, plus other ?

Hi,

Have any of you experienced a Xenon not aim properly while driving. It took me a few minutes to realize that the drivers headlight was pointed at the ground. I turned them off and on, it started to go up but was still pointed waaaayy down. Today, it seemed to aim properly (figures since I could take it to the dealer today).

Also, my radio display has disappeared from the instrument cluster. Only the radio. Do you think that I need a new instrument cluster? I kind of dread this because I had the whole thing in my A4 go out and it always squeaked after that.

This is on a new 2001 A62.7 2300 miles.

Thanks,

Chris

Default The radio thing happens to me every now and then...

if I feel like I care about it that day, I just turn the radio off and then on again...it has always shown up on the first attempt.
I hear that the headlight thing happens occasionally...although it has not happened to me. I would just turn it off, wait a minute and turn 'em back on...I bet they work right...if it happens frequently, I'd bring it in. Otherwise, no big deal...I've never heard of them all of a sudden pointing in the wrong direction while driving, after starting pointed correctly.

Default I had my radio display go out. It would sometimes reappear

after driving for 20 to 30 minutes. Turned out the steering wheel buttons also died. Was finally diagnosed as the steering wheel controller. New one solved both problems, except that now the NAV voice is intermittent. Audi doesn't think the two are related, but I think something got broken or disconnected during the search for the radio problem.

No squeaks after the repair at least.

Thanks for the replies, hopefully, the headlight not raising will be caught by the computer for when I take it in. The radio display is getting annoying since it never works any more....

I have both problems infrequently. I've had my car for a year and had to take it in for the headlight thing 3 times in a row to get it fixed. The radio thing happens about once a week - no big deal. I hope.

Default My xenon does the same!

My xenon light does the same...passenger's side. Points directly down, rarely. If you turn the lights on and off 6 or 7 times it will work its way back to the normal position. Also, on occasions my passenger light wont fire up. If I turn the lights on and off again it will light up. This happens fairly infrequently (both problems). My dealer said no codes were thrown and they couldn't duplicate the problem, so nothing was done. They could have dug around some more but they were very busy and my car was actually in for something else. I have heard that a loose connection somewhere around the headlamp assembly is the culprit. If you do get it fixed please send me an e-mail with the desciption of the service so I can give the info to my dealer.

take a look at this document - apparently one of the hidden features of the bose system is a switch to turn the dashboard radio display on and off. perhaps that will fix your problem.

http://e-audi.tripod.com/eaudinewsarticles/synfhead1.htm</a
