Cruised the VW/Audi facility in Westlake Village last night
Based on past experiences with the BMW facilty near Marina del Rey, thought I'd see some interesting vehicles in fenced-off (possibly blocked) lots. Nothing. Just a dozen Beetles and Jettas still covered in their Saran Wrap. Didn't seem to be any hidden lots either. Darn. Was hoping to see a stash of new A4s and A6s.

My understanding is, Audi is waiting for most, if not all the remaining 2001s to clear the dealer lot's. At least that is what I have been told.
Why they released the 3.0s and not the 4.2s is not clear to me.

They seem to focus on CA emissions compliance.
My wife has a'99 Jetta. We just got a letter from VW looking for Jettas with 40K+ miles for extensive testing; free '02 Jetta loaner, oil change, and tank of gas if we loan them my wife's car for a week. (She's only got 10K on her '99 though.)

I did the same in San Rafael on Saturday.
Lots of 2002 Jettas, but that wasn't very interesting since there are no visible changes. Same for Beetles, though I saw a couple of new colors. Of course, MANY '02 S4s, but they're the same as the '01s, too. No new A4s, A6s, or A8s yet. Should be soon, though.

It's not open to the public. In fact, the track and facility
are in a man-made depression with an embankment all around it. There are guards with binocs who drive around the perimeter to chase off spy photographers.
