There is an article that compares these two...
I think it is in the Winter or Spring "Quattro Quarterly" from the Audi Quattro Club (see URL below).
The article is fairly comprehensive; points out such things as same engine, same transmission. With sport package, suspension components are similar. A6 has larger backseat, trunk; plus options/standard equip not offered on the S4 (like heated rear seats, dual climate control, etc.) Plus, you can get "deals" on the A6 more often than on the S4, including incentive financing.
