Anyone know anything about the Mercedes E55? Good? Bad?

Very nice car, but same price as M5 (and 51 HP and 6-speed Manual short)..............
If stealth is what you want and an auto tranny is OK, it's hard to beat the E55. Other than the AMG wheels and chrome twin exhaust, it's difficult to distinguish it from a lesser E-series.<ul><li><a href="http://209.167.164.66/brand/container.jsp?/models/main.jsp&modelCode=E55">MB USA E55</a></li></ul>

Is there anything in particular you want to know?
I have significant drive/seat time in the silver 1999 E55 pictured below. It has some nice power, but the brakes are even more outstanding; just great stop after stop; they put squeamish people right on the edge of car sickness!
It does handles like a boat (at least on the track)as it is so heavy and its only available in automatic. If you want a luxury cruiser that is fast, safe, fun, AND an automatic, get the E55; otherwise for the same but in stick shift, go M5. Same price, same fun, the E55 is more limited, but the M5 has many more fans. *shrug*

In a comparison test drive, between the E55 and the S6 (both wagons) Top Gear (UK) preffered the S6
even though it was a bit slower on a straight line. Their conclusion was that the S6 was more involving and more fun to drive.
