Default I got it back...can't remember why I was mad

As promised, the salesman was sitting in front of my house at 7:15 with my baby. So after scarfing down dinner, off I went. I drove north on the Bronx River Parkway, which is a great 2 lane, curvey, hilly, twisting stretch of road. Lots of fun to get on it a little bit. After my fun, I headed back south to go home.

I was cruising along with no other cars at about 55 when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, this set of headlights coming flying up right behind me. He got so close that I couldn't see the headlights in the rearview. I switched lanes and he jumped up next to me. Blue Pearl WRX Sport Wagon. Lil' bastard. So I dump it into 3rd and take off like a missle. So does he. He gets in front of me doing 80. I quickly catch up. We both slow down for a couple of S turns and he proceeds to destroy me in the corners. Now I don't know if it was because I have driven my car twice and was a bit, well, scared or the Subaru is one bad mf'n ride. I'm thinking a little of both. Anyone else have any choice encounters with these $24,000 rockets?

How many miles have you got on it? Didn't break mine in this way.

Easy does it with the new baby during break in - and don't forget the turbo cool down routine.

Default Wait for your car to be properly run-in before trying to take on challengers (more)

Another 1500 miles and your car will feel much stronger.
Also, if you are not used to Quattro, learn first, to get the best out of it. Your Audi must not be driven like a 2 wheel drive car.
With the Quattro, turn late into the corner, clip the corner a little after the apex. Apply power early, accelerate or if you chicken out, at least keep some power all the way through the corner. Always keep your hands at 10 to 10 on the steering and try not to change gears in the middle of the corner, in other words choose the right gear before the corner.
As for the WRX, it is a fast car, which handles well, but once your car is run-in and you have some practice as to get the best out of your car in corners, then you should be able to keep up with the WRX.

Default Keep it below 4000 rpm until 1250 miles, then progressively (more)

increase rpms for the next 250 miles, but for short periods of time. Do not sustain high rpm's for too long.
Always wait for your oil temperature to built up to near normal operating temperature before letting the rpm's go above 3000. This also applies for the entire life of our car.
Let the turbos cool down before switching the engine off. In other words if you have been trashing your car at high rpm, do not switch your engine off immediately thereafter, wait at least a minute or more idling. This procedure is also valid for the entire life of the car.

Default I've been on the BRP...

I suspect that you lost on the curves because you are less interested in putting $40,000 of German car at risk, while your foe was risking about half that. Of course, you were both risking your necks. Driving skill and knowing your limits of adhesion usually make the difference -- and it's insane to find your limits anywhere but at a racetrack (where losing it does not mean losing your car and maybe more).
