Thinking about leasing A6 2.7 for my wife.

'02's are due out anytime. If you're talking about an '01, maybe $500 to $1000 over dealer invoice is a good price. Depending on the dealer and the market, you could even do better. Nobody knows about '02's, but it's a soft market most places right now. My GUESS is $1000 to $2000 over dealer invoice should be do-able with reasonable negotiation skills. To get '01 dealer invoice, I'd go to Edmunds. Believe they also have formulas for computing leases. You'll need money factor, residual, cap cost and MSRP. Lease prices are all over the place because of different interest rates, special deals, differing residuals. Will be tough to calculate for the '02's right now. My guess as to what you would pay monthly is a large range trying to factor in all the variables; I'd GUESS anywhere from about $580 to $685 a month.

I have an '01 2.7T. I love it. I'd read up on the current options on the AoA site, Edmunds and here and go drive a couple, if you haven't. I think this late in the game, I'd also want to take a look at the '02's before making a choice. There are many options for these cars, though most come loaded, unless you order one. One major decision is the suspension. Many have found the standard suspension too soft. Reliable conjecture is that '02's may have the prior years' sport suspension, or a variant thereof, as standard. I'd find that a big plus, but it really depends on your wife's preferences.

Do you want '01 or '02 ? Here's the trade-off.

-Depending where you are located, the '01 can be had for $500 to 1200 over invoice.

-Residuals will be lower than on the '02.

-The factory may still have a sub-vented money factor to move the last cars. Check for your region as it can vary by region.

-You may like the '01 car ( style, feature/packages) better than the '02.

-You may pay more for the '02. Expect $1500 to 2200 over invoice depending on availability and pricing in your area.

- You have a higher residual due to it being the beginning of the year.

-Do not expect any special factory lease support. In fact, check with the big banks like Chase or BofA to see what they offer in the way residuals and money factors. Your dealer should be able to tell about these.

-You may prefer the new '02 look and features.

This said, go to edmunds and read the leasing section. Audi uses full disclosure leases in all parts of North America, so you should be able to verify most things.
