2 Deals fell through - Can I order what I need from Audi?
I have had two deals not work out with different audi dealers, The first one trys to sell me a used car as a factory demo, the second trades for a A6 to only have it come in with dents in the hood. These were 2001's Now I am thinking that I want to order one (2002)from a dealer just the way I want it. Is this typical? or do you have to take what comes in to the dealers? I would want a A6 Ming Blue with Perfomance package and Luxuary Package as well as rear air bags. Is this done on a regular basis? Or will I get nailed on the price?

If you can stand the wait, get what you want by ordering!
I waited 3.5 months, and it was excruciating, but I have <i>exactly</i> the car that I wanted and I'm glad I waited rather than "settling" for what was on the lot or what could be traded for. If the $$ difference is not huge, I personally would wait for an '02. Anyway, as they (April I think; who else would I quote?) say, you will remember the car, not the money (or something like that).
I would think that a dented hood would be a pretty easy fix, but on the other hand, I understand wanting a "new-new" car rather than a "fixed-new" car.
Best of luck, maintain your focus on the A6, eventually you will be rewarded with a fantastic ride.

There are two competing schools of thought on this
Some say, ordering a car is cheaper for the dealer so they should pass the savings on to you.
Others say, a car physically sitting on the lot is a constant reminder that it is costing the stealership money to "own" that car, and it behooves them to move it out ASAP.
I lean towards the second view, but many times it comes down to how good you are at negotiating, how flexible you are on the options, and how close the salesperson (and the dealership) is to quotas. Buying a new car at the beginning of the model year is not generally a bright move financially.
