Picture of my S6 /Silver interior
Alcantara is used for top liner and leather is typical (very nice) feeling Audi leather. Creamy smooth and comfortable. Seats hold you firmly during cornering and don't seem to make you feel clammy because they breath well. (This was judged in two more 2+hour trips today.)
Personally I tried an Alcantara interior in an S8 and found it to be unsettling, not smooth, but kind of like a baby blanket. If you like that sort of thing I guess it's OK. A note about the wood trim -- I'm glad that Audi didn't force the carbon fiber on the US market. I saw it in Germany and thought it was just barely acceptable. Then I rented a Chevy Lumina and it had carbon fiber inserts, looked cheap and gimmicky. While the Audi workmanship may be in a better class, the impression was not one for a $60k car. Sorry if I offend anyone who has this but the dark wood is far nicer. Too bad it doesn't show well in the picture.
A woman friend today riding in the back commented on how comfortable it was riding in my station wagon. Oh well, not everyone gets as jazzed up by an Avant as I do.

Agree completely with the wood vs carbon fibre thing. CF is ok on some cars (when it's real) but the dark grey wood is perfect on this car.
